Prophecy Class: Day 21 - Loving the Light - How to Study the Bible

The Greatest Threat, in the Last Days...

WHAT IS THE GREATEST THREAT, IN THE LAST DAYS?

  • Nuclear War – WWIII?
  • Economic Doom – the loss of financial security/job?
  • Persecution / Martyrdom?

Perspective:

·   Yahweh says, “don’t fear him that killeth the body… rather fear Him that kills both body and soul…” – the fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. The  single  most important  reason we breathe is to LIVE…  Our life here isn’t living…  this is probation… living is what comes next.

Deception is the single biggest threat!

·   To be protected from darkness, we must love the Light (Word of Yahweh)

·   John 3:19-20 - And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.”

o   To Love Light = Loving Truth found in the Word of Yahweh

o   To love darkness = Choosing sin and rejecting reproof, being unwilling to change to align one’s life with the Word of Yahweh.

·   John 12:35 – “Then Yahshua said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.”

2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 – “And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

·       Deceivableness of unrighteousness = eternal Death

·       Deceivableness of unrighteousness is causes by not loving Truth

·       Loving Truth = eternal Life / Salvation

·       The Path to Life is walked by living in every ray of Light that we are given (it’s a blessing) – and continuing to seek more Light.

o   Seek Light (Truth) and never reject an opportunity for Light

A love of Truth is Heaven’s only Shield! When we love Truth (Light), Yahweh promises we will be protected from Deception. When we fail to love the Truth, we will surely be deceived – because we cannot outsmart “strong delusions”.

How to Study the Bible to Find the Truth:

Proper Bible Study Technique –

·       Study every Scripture on the topic

o   Isaiah 28:10 “For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.”

o   Isaiah 8:20 “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”

o   1-2 Scriptures may appear (at first) to disagree with what you find in the preponderance of evidence…  Always go with the weight of evidence.

o   Deeper study the “aberrant” Scriptures – always they will align with the weight of evidence.

o   Doctrines (your final conclusion on a teaching) need to be formed by including every Scripture (like pieces of a puzzle).

·       Searching for and Walking in the Truth – rightly – brings spiritual maturity

o   Isaiah 28:9 - “Whom shall He teach knowledge? And whom shall He make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.”

o   Ephesians 4:14 - “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.”

o   Amos 8:11 - “Behold, the days come, saith Yahweh God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the Words of Yahweh.”

o   John 17:17 - “Sanctify them through Thy Truth: Thy Word is Truth.”

o   John 14:6 - “Yahshua saith unto him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.”

In Effective, Proper Bible study (in pursuit of Truth), the following has no place:

·       Bias – if we are pursuing Truth, we can’t just believe something simply because we’ve always believed it (exalting tradition over Truth)

·       Feelings

·       Experiences – The devil manipulates our experiences and makes “good experiences” not be a reliable way to determine whether something is good or bad.

·       2 Timothy 2:15-16 “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth...”

·       1 Timothy 4:16 “Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.”

At the Start of Studying any Topic Get a Bone Structure:

·       Bone #1: First Text - Find the first place in the Bible where this topic is mentioned (it’s in Torah – Isaiah 8:20)

·       Bone #2: Last Text – Find the last place in the Bible where this topic is mentioned…

o   Use these two Scriptures (the Mouth of 2 Witnesses) to do two things:

o   See if it’s a topic that warrants study – because if its Truth it will be found in the bones

§  Example – Lunar Sabbath? If you want to know if an idea has merit, start with looking at the Bones (first and last)

§  In the mouth of 2-3 witnesses, Yahweh’s Word is established.

·       Where is the Sabbath first mentioned? – in the Creation Week…  In this we find that the Moon was created on the 4th Day, yet the Seventh-day Sabbath is counted from the moonless first day.

·       Sabbath keeping in the kingdom – Yahweh’s is the Judge of Sabbath-keeping, not man (history is from the will of man…) (Truth is determined by Scripture, not history)

o   Once the bones are established, let them guide the rest of the study – in which you examine/study every Scripture on the topic.

§  Key point: the “flesh” of all the other Scriptures on that topic will never deviate from the bones.

·       Use the bones as your “bias” – and when you collect all the other Scriptures on that topic, if you find 1-2 that seem to teach the opposite, know that you need to go with the bones and weight of evidence. Wait to deeper understand the 1-2 aberrations.

The Order of Bible study:

1.     Get the Bones

2.     Search out every Scripture on the topic: looking up key words, looking up related concepts

a.      If you are studying the Sabbath: the key word would be “Sabbath”

b.     Related concepts would be “seventh-day”, “rest”…

3.     Organize the Scriptures by categories, which are obvious only when you have all the Scriptures.
