Today we started our study of Zechariah's third vision. This one, found in Zechariah 2:1-13, talks about a man with a measuring line, going out to measure Jerusalem.
In our study today, we found that Scripture likens "measurement" to "judgment". So, the man with a measuring line, who is measuring "Jerusalem" is judging Jerusalem.
We also found that, throughout the book of Zechariah, the visions are similar to scenes in a play. There are acts and scenes, represented by different visions. But the same basic characters appear throughout all the visions, just as the same characters appear in the acts and scenes of a play.
The "play" or "scenes" of Zechariah's visions pertain to End-time world events. And the characters appear repeatedly throughout the book. However, just as characters remain the same throughout the many scenes of a play, so the characters in Zechariah's visions continue to appear in visions throughout the book of Zechariah. But the characters, once identified are the same from vision to vision.
This is especially important to remember regarding who Jerusalem/Zion is... This is the character we are currently working to identify.
