Prophecy Club 2 - Session 28 - December 13, 2021

In today's session of Prophecy Club, we continued our study of Messiah as the Servant (Bondservant) which is the Branch prophecy of Zechariah 3:8. We found that Yahshua, as the Bondservant, fully obeyed Torah. Had He failed to obey or keep even the smallest part of the Torah, He would have not been the Branch fulfilling Zechariah 3:8. But of course, as we have studied, Yahshua did fulfill Zechariah 3:8...  It is a lie of Antichrist which now suggests that Yahshua broke the Law of God.

The spirit of Antichrist - and ultimately the final antichrist – attack Yahshua’s authenticity as Messiah. So, what are the lies of the antichrist, which attack Yahshua’s Work as the Obedient Servant?

The First Lie of the Spirit of Antichrist: Yahshua didn’t keep the Torah (therefore He cannot be our sinless Sacrifice, or Example)

o   The reason that many people now believe that Yahshua broke the Torah, giving us the Example of Torah-breaking, is that He broke the traditional laws which the Jews had made up – Laws which they claimed were part of Yahweh’s Law, but were actually a man-made Talmud.

Every miracle that Yahshua performed was done in such a way as to break the Talmud. In this way, He powerfully came against it to show that the laws of the Talmud were in violation of Torah – Deuteronomy 4:2.

“The Talmud is the central text of Rabbinic Judaism and the primary source of Jewish religious law and Jewish theology. Until the advent of modernity, in nearly all Jewish communities, the Talmud was the centerpiece of Jewish cultural life and was foundational to "all Jewish thought and aspirations", serving also as "the guide for the daily life" of Jews.” (Safrai, S. (1969). "The Era of the Mishnah and Talmud (70–640)". In Ben-Sasson, H.H. (ed.). A History of the Jewish People. Translated by Weidenfeld, George. Harvard University Press (published 1976). p. 379)

Talmud also contradicts Statutes, allowing people to work their way into being cleansed from the sin of transgression of Torah (1 John 3:4).

Talmud teaches “The volume of kosher must be 60 times greater than the volume of non-kosher.” So, as the following Jewish cartoon shows, it is possible, through works to atone for one’s sin of breaking Torah (Torah prohibits eating blood – Leviticus 3:17).

The Pharisees had enacted over 500 Laws governing the keeping of the Sabbath day, including what constituted forbidden work, how far one may walk on the Sabbath, what one must do before the Sabbath in order to carry anything on the Sabbath.

Yahshua violated the prohibition of putting saliva on one's eyes on the Sabbath (Talmud, Shabbat 108b;19-25)

He commanded those that He healed on the Sabbath to break other Pharisees laws - “take up your bed, and walk” (Talmud Mas. Shabbat 6a)

In Yahshua's day, the Pharisees considered themselves to be lawmakers, who had the power to supersede the Torah. To do this, the Rabbis would go into the synagogues and sit in a special seat, called the "seat of Moses“.  The Pharisees taught that every new commandment they invented, while sitting in this seat, had the same authority as the commandments Moses received from the hand of the Almighty.

The very existence of the Babylonian Talmud laws was a sin – breaking the Torah rule of not adding to Yahweh’s Law:

Deuteronomy 4:2 – “we are not to add to nor diminish any part of the Torah”

But, in Messiah’s day, the Pharisees had elevated their manmade Talmud to be equal with the Torah… In fact greater than Torah…

The reason the Pharisees believed they had the power to override the Torah was that they claimed to “sit in the seat of Moses”

This picture shows an actual Seat of Moses, from one of the Synagogues during the time of Messiah.

How does the Talmud transgress the Law of Yahweh?

Deuteronomy 4:2 – Man is not to add or take away from the Torah Laws.

Isaiah 29:13 - their fear toward Me is taught by the precept of men (laws, teachings, traditions, requirements given by men)

Matthew 15:9 - “But in vain (empty, pertaining to idolatry, unacceptable to Heaven) they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (Isaiah 8:20 – doctrine has to come from Torah)

Yahshua worked to expose the evil of the Talmud laws in both miracles and teachings. But never did He ever break the Law of Yahweh. Breaking Torah is a sin. And if Yahshua had sinned, HE could not be our sacrifice and Salvation.

UPCOMING WINTER BREAK:

We will be having a Winter Break - from December 20, 2021 to January 2, 2022...  There will be no Prophecy Club classes during this time. I will be taking some needed vacation time to complete projects (one of which will be sewing a baby quilt for my newest grandbaby, due in May).

ZOOMING FROM CANADA:

Also, I will be going to be with my son and his family in Manitoba Canada from January 18 to February 17...  During this away time, in which I will be taking my oldest granddaughter (Jody, who is 8 years old) up to be with her daddy (my son) I will continue to hold Prophecy Club, as scheduled. I will simply be using my son's internet and hosting the Zoom classes from the north country :-). Again, Prophecy Club will continue during this time, but it may be necessary to lose a scheduled day here or there, due to travel. Largely however, classes should continue uninterrupted during this time.
