Spiritual Warfare - Mental Health
·1Mental illness is an impossibility in Yahweh
o 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
· Mental illness is both physical, emotional and spiritual
o Thoughts and feelings over time change the brain – neuroplasticity
o Every morning, when you first wake up, you have new baby dendrites in your brain, waiting for use… they will be wired into your brain by your first thoughts of the day…
§ So if the first thoughts are dark/negative – this is the quickest most powerful time to change the brain’s architecture… into darkness… depression… mental illness…
§ But, Yahweh tells us to give Him the firstfruits! Give Him the first waking thoughts – spend those in praise to Yahweh.
§ Discipline is a word that is rooted in “disciple” – “discipleship”… Spiritual discipline… To start out the day with structure (disciplining your mind) – use Psalm 103 like medicine.
§ It takes 40 days to change your brain’s chemistry…
§ If you spend time, “looking back”, crying over your wounds (which everyone has), it changes you – it creates mental illness
· Luke 9:62 “And Yahshua said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God.”
Once
mental illness has happened it will take 4 things to heal:
1) Physical – there will be a chemical imbalance
o Using
Scripture/praise and discipline against negative thinking to change the brain’s
architecture back to healthy
o
There
are herbal remedies that can help with brain chemistry
o Also
use exercise – builds endorphins (this changes your negative brain
chemistry)
2) Mental – there will be a habit of negative
thinking/feeling… Aim for 40 days of no negative thinking/feeling…
· If we are battling physical cancer,
we have to eat differently, live differently…
similarly, when we are battling the “cancer” of a mental illness, we
must battle by “eating” and “living” differently on the mental plain…
o
Eating
is feeding the soul, in this analogy…
So, when you’re battling out from the pit… you must only feed your soul
with positive good things…
o
Philippians 4:8 –
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are
honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good
report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think
on these things.”
· To
battle the habit of indulging negative thinking/feeling… You use the Heavenly
Weapons every time you’re tempted to think/feel negatively.
· We
should pray and not “faint” – meaning to be too tired to keep on fighting… Luke
18:1
· Then
fight wisely… You do things to reduce your fight
intensity and frequency…
o
Cleanse your environment – home.
Remove all objects that the enemy has legal rights to. And anoint your home (after cleansed).
§ First
remove everything you know that is not good/blessed… books, movies, “cultural
items”… Objects that come from a dark source…
· Deuteronomy
7:26 “Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into
thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly
detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.”
· 1
Corinthians 10:13 “There hath no temptation
taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will
not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the
temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
· Psalm 139:23-24
– “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And
see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way
everlasting.”
§
Create an atmosphere in your
environment that is uncomfortable for demons… Play godly music 24/7… Play
Scripture being read aloud…
· The
following are the Heavenly Weapons:
o Rebuke Satan in Christ’s Name and Blood (Jude 1:9, Matthew 16:23, Acts 16:18)… Rebuke the Spirit at work by name…
o Pray for the Heavenly Father to send His
angels to fight on your behalf (Psalm 91:11).
o Quote an appropriate Scripture for the
specific temptation (2
Peter 1:4).
o Sing songs of praise to the Saviour (1
Chronicles 16:8-10)
§ If you are using music, a rock beat will not
drive out the devil (because that’s his music – so his spirit is behind even
the “Christian” words)
§ Most Effective Warfare Songs:
·
Jesus
Loves Me (Yahshua Loves Me)
·
Power
in the Blood
o Read passages from Scripture aloud until the
temptation passes (Ephesians 6:10-18).
o Speak (aloud) to GOD praising Him for
specific blessings (Psalm 105:2-3).
o Share your testimony of what GOD has
done for you with someone (Revelation 12:11).
3) Emotional – You need support – set up a support system…
· Addictions need to be addressed with
an accountability structure – support system…
· Calling prayer warriors to support
and pray in time of great need…
4) Spiritual – Prayer and anointing
It takes
time and effort to restore mental health, once lost, but it works like a
harvest:
Galatians 6:7-9 “Be
not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall
he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap
corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life
everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in
due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
