Prophecy Class: Day 5 - Prophecy on the Economy in the Last Days

Study Topic: "End-time Prophecy on Money"

In class today, we spent so much time on current events, that we barely started our topic of study...  I'll save the highlights on that topic for our next class blog...

·      Judgment on Babylon will affect the economy:

o   Revelation 18:9-10 - “The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her shall weep and mourn over her, when they see the smoke of her burning, standing from afar on account of the fear of her torment, saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! Because in one hour your judgment came.”

o   Revelation 18:9-19:

§  The economic collapse (no buying/selling/merchants weep) will come with head-spinning speed (in one hour)… “The great riches come to naught (are gone) in one hour.” Revelation 18:17

o   This judgment on the economy will affect people’s ability to buy merchandise.

The Economy is impacted by End-time Cataclysmic Events

Matthew 24:6-8 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.”

·  The beasts of Daniel 7 arise out of the wind-tossed sea…  the wind represents war and national strife

·   War is an element connected with the economy

·   One of the reasons in Bible prophecy for a lack of food in the Last Days is related to the economy

·  The more convergence of disasters, the greater the impact on the economy

Believers should expect even less ability to participate in the economy

·   Revelation 13:16-17 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:  And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”

·   Money – the economy – is part of the test of faithfulness to Yahweh, as opposed to compromise

·  This suggests that the economy plays a role in Judgment

The economy (global) will be destroyed

·  Zephaniah 1:18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of Yahweh’s Wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the Fire of His Jealousy (zealousness): for He shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.”

·   Isaiah 9:7 – “Of the increase of His Government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will perform this.”

When man looks to his own fleshly arm (power, abilities, self) as the source of protection and provision, it is labor with no benefit, without Yahweh.

·   Haggai 1:6 – “Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.”

There is no security or true provision in the flesh…  It’s all found in Yahweh

·   Micah 4:1-4 “But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of Yahweh shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of Yahweh of hosts hath spoken it.”
