Today we continued our study of Minor Prophets - specifically, we are studying Habakkuk - Chapter 1
Habakkuk 1:5-6 “Behold (see… be advised…
take heed) ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder
marvelously (is the same Hebrew word for both words, said doubly to
double its effect… it means “be in
consternation – like extreme shock): for I will work a work
in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you. For,
lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation,
which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwelling
places that are not theirs.”
Daniel
8:23 “And
in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a
king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.”
This king
(political ruler – who rules the world) arises in the Last Days, under many
titles/names (LWM Magazine, Issue 27, October-December, 2022 Feature article:
The King of the North):
· King of the North
· King of Babylon
· the Oppressor
· the Beast
· the Prince of Tyrus (the King of
Tyrus, in Ezekiel is the devil himself)
· the Assyrian
· Man of Sin
· Son of Perdition
· Antichrist
· the Little Horn
How long
does the image stand?
Revelation
18:1-4 “And after
these things I saw another angel come down from Heaven, having great power; and
the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a
strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and
is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a
cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk
of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the
earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of
the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And
I heard another voice from Heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people,
that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”
· Babylon falls at the end of time
· Babylon is completely demon
possessed… Everyone who stays in Babylon
will be fully possessed.
· All nations (the entire political
realm - globally) are a part of the Babylon system – in thinking, ideology,
worship, and doctrine
· The kings are the leaders – political
leaders of the world are in selling the soul for personal gain relationship
with Babylon.
· The merchants of the earth are the
business sector…
Babylon is
in contrast to the saved – Zion vs Babylon…
God’s people vs the lost… There
are
· Abraham is the Father of the Saved
(Israel)… Israel is the term (name) for
the entire company of the saved… He holds this title for ALL the saved, whether
or not they lived before him or after him…
o
Abraham’s
Seed are heirs according to the Promise (Eternal Life) – to Abraham were the
Promises made…
o
Yahshua
said, “if ye were Abraham’s seed (Israel, the saved) ye would do the works of
Abraham.”
o
The
New Jerusalem, in which all the saved (from all time) live, has 12 gates named
for the 12 sons of Jacob, descendants of Abraham…
o
Abraham
was of Ur of the Chaldees – this was his point of origin… Abraham starts out in
Babylon… The word Hebrew, which was a
description of Abraham, meant to “cross over”, or one who has crossed over
(from death to life).
o
Abraham
kept my Commandments, Statutes, Covenant…
In Daniel
chapter 7, four beasts arise to power. The Little Horn Power comes out of the
fourth beast. In Daniel chapter 8, the he-goat has four horns, out of which the
Little Horn (ultimately is the Beast, or Antichrist, who rules at the end of
the world) arises. The Little Horn exalts itself to be “God”. The Little
Horn dominates the world, ruling from the Pleasant Land (Israel/Jerusalem).
It attacks
and changes Yahweh’s Law and holy Days. The Little Horn is a blasphemous,
anti-christ power. It persecutes the saints. The Little Horn is a “king of
fierce countenance”, who rises to power at the End of the world.
Daniel 8
gives us some of the background for Habakkuk 1 – this is how the Chaldeans
(Babylon) are “raised up”…
Babylonia is
sometimes called Shinar or the land of Babylon, but usually it is called the
land of the Chaldeans. Its inhabitants are a few times referred to as
Babylonians, but usually as Chaldeans.
Habakkuk 1:7-8 “They
are terrible (terrifying, frightening) and dreadful:
their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of
themselves (they decide what and how to judge, as opposed to righteousness,
and they demand-command to be revered). Their horses also are swifter
than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and
their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far;
they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat.”
· Horses in Bible prophecy are a symbol
of military power (might) – Psalm 20:7; Isaiah 31:1
· The leopard is the body of the
End-time Beast symbol… The leopard has
four wings which signify swiftness in global takeover.
Habakkuk
1:9-10 “They
shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind,
and they shall gather the captivity as the sand. And they shall scoff at
the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every
strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it.”
· This Babylon entity will rule the
world, and all former nations and leaders will fall under its dominion.
· The reference to captivity “as the
sand” means that this power will subjugate, or enslave, so many that the volume
is compared to “sand”.
· Babylon dominates the world
“heap(ing) dust”… which means bringing
about the deaths of multitudes.
o
Dust
is what Adam is made from… in death
Scripture tells us that the spirit/breath returns to God who made it, and the
body is dust.
o
The
serpent is cursed in the Garden of Eden to eat dust – which is literally dead
bodies… It used to eat fruit…
· Daniel 8:23 “And in the latter time of their kingdom,
when the transgressors are
come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding
dark sentences, shall stand up.”
o
Habakkuk
1:4 tells us that the reason the “Chaldeans” (Babylon) are unleashed upon the
world is that society has become “slack” regarding Torah-obedience… Which is the same reason given here in Daniel
8:23. Babylon / and the Beast (heading it) rises to full power “when the transgressors
are come to the full”. The Bible defines sin as “transgression of God’s Law”.
Habakkuk
1:11 “Then shall
his mind change, and he shall pass over,
and offend, imputing this his power unto his
god.”
· “shall his mind” = the Hebrew word is
ruach – which means “wind”, “breath”, “spirit”
o
The
Ruach ha Kodesh is the Holy Spirit…
· “change” = the Hebrew word is chalaph
– which means “to slide by”, “to hasten away”, “to spring up”…
· “he shall pass over” = the Hebrew
word is abar – which means “to cross over”, “to “transition”…
o
There
are four Stages/Phases of the Beast Power:
§ Stage 1: the Beast is a political power
comprised of the four beasts of Daniel 7, aka the four horns on the goat of
Daniel 8
§ Stage 2: the Beast – Revelation 13 - is a
globally combined political power, a one-world order comprised of the beasts of
Daniel 7
§ Stage 3: the Beast is actually one, very
wicked person who rules over this global, political power (the Little Horn)
§ Stage 4: the Beast is no longer human (the
beast receives a mortal wound – “deadly wound”…
the wound is “healed”) The Bible says that the Beast will ascend out of
the Bottomless Pit (a holding place of demons).
· “and offend” = the Hebrew word is asham – which
means “to be guilty”, “to be punished” and “to perish”…
· The concept of imputing his power to his god – is rejecting Yahweh’s Dominion and operating in rebellion to it.
