Today we continued our in-depth study of Ezekiel 37:15-28, focusing on the prophecy of the Greater Exodus. We finished our study of the two Stick prophecy. We will be studying the Greater Exodus topic (from Ezekiel 37) on Monday:
Eze
37:19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Sovereign GOD; Behold, I will take
the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of
Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of
Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in Mine Hand.
Eze
37:20 And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before
their eyes.
Eze
37:21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Sovereign GOD; Behold, I will
take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and
will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
Eze
37:22 And I
will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel;
and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations,
neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:
Eze
37:23 Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor
with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will
save them out of all their dwelling places, wherein they have sinned, and will
cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.
The first Exodus was Yahweh’s people being taken out from the far land of
Egypt (represents darkness, wickedness, and slavery to sin) and brought into
the Promised Land.
Scripture
refers to a second, and greater deliverance that
overshadows the first Exodus from Egypt. Prior to the Babylonian
captivity, Jeremiah wrote of it extensively. Yahweh brought out the tribes
of Israel from Egypt, along with a mixed multitude that
engrafted into the nation.
There is a
future, and final Exodus. The Second Exodus will be so incredible and
miraculous, the first Exodus will pale by comparison:
Jeremiah
16:14-15 - “Therefore,
behold, the days come, saith Yahweh, that it shall no more be said, Yahweh
liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; But,
Yahweh liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the
north, and from all the lands whither He had driven them: and I will
bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.”
Jeremiah 23:3-8
- “And
I will gather the remnant of My flock out of all countries whither I have
driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall
be fruitful and increase. And I will set up shepherds over them which
shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall
they be lacking, saith Yahweh. Behold, the days come,
saith Yahweh, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch (Tsemach,
which is a term meaning Messiah), and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall
execute judgment and justice in the earth. In His Days Judah shall be saved,
and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is His Name whereby He shall be
called, YAHWEH OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Therefore, behold, the days come, saith
Yahweh, that they shall no more say, Yahweh liveth, which brought up the
children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; But, Yahweh liveth, which
brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north
country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell
in their own land.”
What land is
it that Israel will dwell in?
· Common Answer: The land of Israel, in the Middle East
· Spiritual Answer: Earth… Because Adam was
originally given Earth… And Yahshua came
as the Second Adam, the Promised Land is much bigger than the Middle East… It’s the planet.
John 4:24 - “God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”
What is real? Is the tangible real? Or is the spiritual real?
Ephesians 6:12 - “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
What is real? The Spiritual is real in terms of “human relationships”…
Is
Abraham’s Seed Spiritual or Literal?
When Scripture referred to “Abraham’s Seed” (a.k.a. Israel), people thought God meant that humans with the right D.N.A. were saved. This is not a new misconception. It was around in Christ’s day. In fact, the Pharisees who were rejecting Yahshua’s Messiahship still insisted that they were “Abraham’s Seed”—a statement which was literally true, but was totally misapplied.
· Yahshua said: “If you were Abraham’s Seed (Israel), you would do the works of Abraham… Ye are of your father the devil…”
For as Yahshua plainly explained, unless one does “the works of Abraham”, one is not the seed of Abraham (Israel), no matter what their D.N.A. may happen to be! In fact, far from being the true seed of Abraham, Christ said these Jewish leaders were really the seed “of their father the devil” (John 8:31-44)!
What
was the True Temple? Was it Literal or Spiritual?
Another example of people interpreting prophecy literally, thereby missing the deeper spiritual application, is the case of the Temple.
Christ
said that upon being destroyed the Temple would be built again in three days.
But Yahshua wasn’t talking about rebuilding the literal Temple, although He Who had spoken the world into existence in 6 days, could certainly have rebuilt the literal Temple. When Yahshua said He would rebuild the Temple in three days, He was referring to the spiritual Temple of His own Body, for He would be raised from the Dead three days after His execution.
The Spiritual is the more Epic and More Real…
There really was a physical Exodus… But the second Exodus is greater… The bringing of Israel from the North country is more epic… Why? The Second Exodus is greater because its spiritual.
1 Corinthians 10:11 “Now all these things happened unto them (Israel in the first Exodus Story) for ensamples (examples): and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the Ends of the World are come.”
