Continuing our study of the third Branch Prophecy, which is in Zechariah 6:12, we looked into what the "holy ground" is - being the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, which was located just outside of the Old City of Jerusalem. We discussed how this place, upon which the angel stood in 2 Samuel 24, was the site of David's altar, and spot upon which the Altars of Burnt Sacrifice stood for both Solomon's Temple and Zerubbabel's/Herod's Temple.
Because there are conflicting beliefs about where the prior two temples stood, it may not be possible (prior to the third temple's construction) to be 100% certain about where the third temple will stand. But we can be certain that it will stand upon the very spot where the prior temples stood, because Bible prophecy calls it the Abomination of Desolation which "stands where it ought not" upon the "holy ground". So, when the third temple is built, it will settle the conflict. According to Bible Prophecy, it will be standing on the ground which should be holy - the spot where Ornan's threshing floor once was.
Here's some evidence to consider regarding how the original Temple site may not have been on the Temple Mount, but rather may have been at Gihon Springs:
